Released in 2019, the 2nd Gen Apple AirPods have simple music controls by tapping the earphones. You can pause, play and skip your music, or answer an incoming phone call. You can also access Siri using voice commands – simply say “Hey Siri” to ask questions, play certain songs and make calls.
They have up to five hours of power per charge and a total of 24 hours when used with the Lightning charging case. These AirPods are compatible with the latest iPhone 15 range down to the iPhone 5s and even work with the 6th and 7th generation iPod Touch.

Taking a leap forward from the previous model, the 2021 3rd Gen Apple AirPods are designed to immerse users into their music through Adaptive EQ – automatically altering the frequency of the music to how the earphones sit in your ears. They also use Personalised Spatial Audio to create a cinema-like sound with Dolby Atmos and Dynamic Head-Tracking for more realistic sounds as you listen.
Similar to the 2nd Gen, you can use voice commands to access Siri or the force sensor on the earphone stems. Tapping the sensor will also control your music and phone settings.
You’ll have up to six hours of power per charge and up to 30 hours with the Lightning charging case. They also have an IPX4 sweat and water-resistance rating and are compatible with iPhones down to the iPhone SE range.
Price: $294 (was $399)
The 2nd Gen Apple AirPods Pro was released in 2022 with the latest audio technology including Personalised Spatial Audio, Dynamic Head-Tracking technology and Adaptive EQ. They share the same Siri voice commands and touch controls as the 3rd Gen Apple AirPods with the addition of volume controls – swiping up or down the earphones will raise or lower the volume.
These earphones use Active Noise Cancellation to block out surrounding sounds and focus on your music along with Transparency Mode to clearly hear both your music and what’s around you. Adaptive Audio will automatically adjust its volume based on the noise in your environment and Conversation Awareness amplifies voices when speaking to someone without needing to take the earphones out.
They have up to six hours of power per charge with a total of 30 hours with the MagSafe charging case. They also have an IP54 dust, sweat and water-resistance rating and come with silicone ear tips to make them more comfortable.
